2008 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC - CANCELLED!

E-mail Print PDF
Late yesterday I learned that we do not have power at PSC Shooting Club and we likely won't have it for several weeks. A shooting range is a low priority customer and we understand. Without power, we have no lights or air conditioning for the classrooms, no computers for seminar presentations, no water (the range is on a well) so there are no working restrooms, and no power for our electric and electric/pneumatic target systems.

We will try to reschedule for Spring, 2009. If we are without power for weeks, then there is no reason to believe we would be ready on the 4th Saturday in October. The 4th Saturdays in Nov. and Dec. are too close to holidays, so those months won't work either.

We have not deposited any of the checks sent with registration forms. All of those will be shredded along with the registration forms. We considered trying to come up with a system to keep those forms so people wouldn't have to send in more, but that's not realistic.

On behalf of all of us on the TexasCHLforum Day team, I apologize for this cancellation and for any inconvenience this causes. If there was any reasonable way to put this event on, we would have done so.

Chas.

Cut-Off Date for Lunch at the TexasCHLforum Day

Lunch Cut-Off Date Saturday, Sept. 20th!

We have to give the Bun Stuffers a firm head-count so they can buy food for the TexasCHLforum Day at PSC.  All registrations received by Saturday, Sept. 20th will include lunch.  All registrations received after that date will not include lunch, so please bring your own or plan to eat at one of the restaurants close to the range.  We will be holding a combination CHL Fashion Show/Panel Discussion during lunch, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to bring your lunch or leave the range during the lunch break.

We'll see you folks on Saturday, Sept. 27th.

Chas.

Update: 2008 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC

E-mail Print PDF
Several of the mini-clinics at the 2008 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC on Saturday, Sept. 27th are full, but there are several slots still open.  If you haven't registered yet, be sure to do so soon and check the schedule first to see what mini-clinics are still open.  You can check the schedule by clicking on the TexasCHLforum Day Schedule.  The numbers in the upper left side of each block indicate the number of open slots.

In addition to the mini-clinics and seminars, there are opportunities for shooting all day, if you like.  The Texas Stars, Find the Gun for You, and the plate rack are not subject to limits as are the clinics, so you will be able to burn up all the ammo you like!

Lunch is included in the $20 fee and we will have the "CHL Fashion Show" during the lunch break.  This will be an opportunity to see several different types of holsters and methods of concealment and ask questions about what works and what doesn't.

Event Schedule Revised

The Event Schedule has been revised to include the number of available slots for each seminar, shooting clinic and mini-clinic. The white box in the upper left hand part of each event listing shows the number of slots available. This will be updated daily.

It would be a good idea to include a few alternate events you would like to attend, in case an event is full before your registration forum arrives. Be sure to use the "course" number rather than just the title. Put alternate selections at the bottom of the registration forum.

Note Course Change

Please note that the Speed Reloading mini-clinics will be for semi-autos only. Reloading of revolvers will not be covered in this class.

Format change for the 2008 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC

In an ongoing effort to make it possible for people to attend more seminars and clinics, we are changing the format used in prior years. While the Preliminary Event List published on June 9th has been superceeded, almost all of the topic covered in the shooting clinics listed will still be offer, albeit in a different format. The goal is to break down some of the clinics into discrete aspects of shooting and offer those subjects as mini-clinics. A mini-clinic will be between 30 and 45 minutes long and will be limited to six students. Every mini-clinic will be offered at three different times during the day to make it possible for people to schedule their day so as to cover almost all of the subjects offered this year.

The following subjects will still be offered as a full 2 hr. shooting clinics:

  1. Basic Skills (proper grip, trigger control, sight alignment/picture) [Instructor TBA]
  2. Defensive Shotgun[Instructor Gregg Garrett]
  3. IDPA Basics [Instructor Steve Vandermolen]
  4. Ladies-Only Shooting Clinic [Donna Vandermolen]

The following subjects will be offered in mini-clinics:

  1. Proper: grip, trigger control, sight alignment/picture
